Russian Marine Mammal Council hereby announces the XI International Conference on Marine Mammals of the Holarctic. The Conference will take place on November 02-06, 2020 in Moscow at the P.P.Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Nakhimovsky Prospekt, 36).
Registration of participants, submission of abstracts and extended materials to the Collection of Scientific Papers will be accomplished through the Council web site: http://marmam.ru starting March’30, 2020. All information regarding registration, conference preparation, and abstract format will be on the web site after March’01, 2020 and also will be sent in the next Announcement.
Conference Topics:• Population biology;
• Estimate of abundance and monitoring status;
• Ecology (e.g., nutrition, distribution, habitat, and migration);
• Behavior and acoustics;
• Physiology, toxicology, and pollution;
• Veterinary medicine for marine mammals;
• Contemporary research methods;
• Conservation, use, management, and legislation;
• Rehabilitation and captivity;
• Reduction of impact on marine mammals caused by economic activities.
The Organizing Committee encourages participants to submit proposals for special meetings, thematic round tables, and workshops relevant to the study, conservation and management of marine mammal populations. Please send proposals to the Organizing Committee by email Holarctic2020@gmail.com. In your application, specify the following information: topic, moderator’s name and contact information, expected number of participants, duration of the event. Applications deadline is May 30, 2020.
We invite the participants to take part in a video demonstration and photo exhibition concerning marine mammal research and conservation. Please contact us by email Holarctic2020@gmail.com. We welcome your proposals on other special events, which may occur during the conference on subjects pertaining to the Conference Topics (above).
